Green Kids News
Recently, we moved the actual club for kids from Green Kids to Wild Green Kids. We want more children to join our club and learn more about how they can advocate for animals and their habitats both here in our own communities and around the world. We have a great contest going right now. READ BELOW and SEND IN THOSE DRAWINGS!
Environmental Hero
We are happy to announce our new Environmental Hero for this quarter is David Casselman!

David Casselman, as he puts it, feels called to the herculean task of changing hearts and minds about the importance of helping animals and the planet. An accomplished civil trial lawyer, David spent decades doing pro bono work on animal rights cases in addition to successfully championing litigation and teaching law classes in California.

Now retired from law, he pursues his passion to protect animals and their environments full-time. He is the founder of the Cambodia Wildlife Sanctuary and has been actively involved in the Whale Sanctuary Project. He has also partnered up with Lek Chailert and Darrick Thompson with the Elephant Nature Park

As the founder of Ecoflix, the world’s first non-profit streaming service devoted to education about nature, animals and related ecological issues, David champions causes around the world. He hopes to use this avenue to reach like-minded people who are passionate and will take action to save animals and the planet.

Animal Rights Day
December 10 is International Animal Rights Day

In 1948, after World War II, the United Nations adopted what is known as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It says that having respect and dignity for all people are "the foundations for freedom, justice and peace in the world."

Several decades ago, people and organizations all over the world demanded that this type of respect be extended towards all animals that are not humans. As we learn more about animals, we learn they have feelings and many are incredibly intelligent and capable of learning amazing new skills!

International Animal Rights Day is the day where we pause and ask what we can do to help educate people in our communities about terrible things being done to animal species around the world. What are some ways you can show you respect animals?

Project Chimp

Even though you have already heard from us about Project Chimp, we wanted to give them another shout out for all the work they do.

Project Chimp, located in Georgia in the lovely Blue Ridge Mountains, takes in chimpanzees who have been used in medical research facilities and provides them with a safe and loving permanent home. In 2015, the United States banned invasive chimpanzee research and announced all government-owned chimps would be retired to a sanctuary. Project Chimp also accommodates chimps who come from private research institutions. Click here to go to their website and learn so much more about their great work.

Also, for fun, click here to take a personality quiz and see which chimp is most like you! We encourage you to sponsor a chimp! This month if you sponsor Kareem (see below) you'll get one of our new Hope for Kareem book!

P.S.  Photo above is the real Kareem!
