Over the years, Green Kids Club has been working with schools across the United States, as well as around the world.  Our activities include everything from visiting classrooms to providing books and learning tools to grade level children, as well as sponsoring Environmental Clubs.

Belize. On a visit to Belize, we visited the Holy Cross Anglican School where we met with classes from Kindergarten and 2nd grade.  We read to each classroom and gave a book and a small clip-on to each child.  The kids learned about different animal issues around the world and also told us some about their environmental concerns and how they were working to make a difference.  We were pleased to hear how many of them worked to help pick up trash and to get their families to help as well!

Idaho. We recently donated books to our local Tautphaus Park Zoo in Idaho Falls. The books were used as supplemental stories in the zoo's educational summer camps.

Botswana.  We also met the Environment Club in Kasane, Botswana.  It was really great to hear how the children have their own Club where they have a Minister of the Environment and Assistant. They meet on a weekly basis and work on projects to help promote environmental stewardship.  The children discussed the various wildlife that they have in their backyards – such as the African elephants, lions, and warthogs, and how their families deal with them when they show up!  Quite educational for me.  Green Kids is pleased to say that we are now a sponsor of the schools in the Chobe School District (14) for the Association of Environmental Clubs.  We are thrilled to be helping here!

Other Schools.  We have worked with a number of schools here in the US, including schools in New York, Idaho, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, as some examples.  We also get periodic requests from places we don’t expect, like Pakistan and Nairobi.

Baby Animal Stories.  Green Kids Club is launching a new series of environmental stories led by baby animals!  As we have progressed through the years with our environmental children’s stories featuring the Green Kids (Victor, Maya and Tiago), we realized that having baby animals lead the environmental challenge we have in this world would be an interesting way to approach environmental stewardship.  So our first book is called, “Elee and the Shining Star!”  Elee will be a returning character in many of our books. In this book, she is busy trying to find a waterhole that never goes dry.  It is coming out soon. Also, we will be donating 50% of our proceeds to Elephants Without Borders or other animal conservation groups that buyers of this book identify.
YooHoo and Friends Environmental Stories.  Green Kids is working hand in hand with Aurora in a new series of books featuring the YooHoo Characters (derived from their plush lines).  Our current stories include a story about a Panda (RingRing in the Great Panda Escape), African Elephants (Teenie Wants a Mudbath), Red Squirrels (Chewoo in Nut Sweet Nut), and Sugar Gliders (Shooga to the Rescue).

For the last several years, Green Kids Club has been promoting educational materials and story lines with Elephants Without Borders (EWB).

Education. Our initiatives have been bringing books and toys to the children of the Kasane, Botswana area by working with their Environmental Clubs and schools in the area.  We also were able to participate in the Global March for Elephants and Rhinos. It was amazing walking down the street of Kasane, looking right next to you, and seeing Elephants walking with you – a truly amazing experience.

Collaboration with Children’s Books. We were also fortunate enough to write a children’s book called, “The African Bush Fire and the Elephant,” for the children of Botswana.  The book was written to sensitize children to the threat of wildfires, to touch upon poaching, and to foster a positive message about living with wildlife. The book was co-authored by EWB Program Manager, Kelly Landen.  The book was also translated into the Setswana language by Mwezi from the Kavimba village in the Chobe Enclave.

With permission and assistance from the Dept. of Forestry & Range Resources (DFRR) under the Ministry of Environment, hundreds of copies of the book were donated and distributed throughout the country to schools, environmental clubs, and DFRR.

Hands on Support. Another area we were able to participate in was working hands-on with EWB at their Research Station.  In the Fall of 2017, we were able to meet a small baby elephant called Molelo, who had been rescued by EWB. The baby elephant had been rescued from a bush fire and was severely dehydrated and burned on the bottom of his feet and across his body.  Helping as much as we could with Molelo was an honor and privilege.  Molelo is doing well and has since been moved to the EWB Elephant Orphanage in Kasane and has two new friends who have also come to the facility.  So you will be seeing a new book coming out soon – The story of Molelo, the Fire Elephant.

We at Green Kids love to promote the vast amount of good any child can help build, while also offering information and fun activities anyone can enjoy.
Please feel free to learn with us today.
Green Kids Club?
Green Kids Club is designed to teach young children the importance of environmental stewardship through picture books. The series was developed to teach children the importance of protecting habitats, sustaining ecosystems, and respecting animal and, ultimately, human life.  Difficult environmental issues such as poaching, habitat, encroachment, etc. are part of our stories.
Victor, Maya & Tiago
They are the main characters in our Green Kids Club Series. In our first story, The Green Spring, the children receive the power to talk to animals by drinking water from a magic spring. In this story, the Grand Council of animals select Victor and Maya to drink water from this spring and help to preserve and protect our planet Earth. Kids from all over the world also end up drinking water from the Green Spring and together they help Victor and Maya teach others to protect the animals and their homes.
Join our Green Kids Club!  Do Green things and not only will you get awards from us, but you will make a difference in saving our planet and its animals.
